The Creative Living Difference

Our Mission, Goal & Vision

Mission

The mission of Medina Creative Housing is to develop quality housing, services and supports to enable individuals with disabilities to live their lives with dignity and opportunity.

Our Goal

To assist individuals with developmental and physical disabilities to achieve independence, recognizing that everyone we serve requires different levels of training, support and security and responding to meet these needs.

Our Vision

As we look into the future, we see more and more opportunities to continue to build hope, develop confidence and create freedom.

A Comprehensive Lifestyle

For over thirty years, our 501 (c)(3) non-profit parent organization, Medina Creative Housing (MCH), has developed quality housing, supportive services, and programs that enable individuals with disabilities to live their lives with dignity and opportunity.

Supportive, Safe, Independent Housing

Medina Creative Housing currently owns fourteen single family homes in Medina County. All of these homes are independent living with supports. We also own an independent living experience home in Brunswick, Ohio with eight efficiency units, that is part of our Creative Living Transitions program. Individuals living in this home setting work on skills and goals in order to achieve independent living in a single family setting.

We also have forty-four Medina Creative Living single and double garden-style apartments located in five community settings: Medina Creative Living I, II, III, IV and Creative Living, Middleburg Heights. Medina Creative Living I, II, and III are part of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) 811 Supportive Living for Individuals with Disabilities, Medina Creative Living IV is filled in partnership with Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD), and Creative Living Middleburg Heights is subsidized by, and has it's application and waiting list managed by, Cuyahoga County Metropolitan Housing.

These Community Assets include: Creative Pet Play, Grande Café & Roastery, Creative Living Coffee, Creative Living Produce, Creative Therapy Ranch, and Creative Property Maintenance.

Our History

Medina Creative Housing was formed as a non-profit organization in 1992 by a group of concerned parents looking for housing options other than Applecreek Developmental Center (an institution for individuals with disabilities that opened in 1931 and closed in 2006) for their children with disabilities. These parents longed for safe, loving, independent living opportunities and a brighter future for their children and others.

Medina Creative Housing took adults out of Applecreek Developmental Center and placed them in independent living settings in Medina County, and enabled Medina County residents with disabilities to live the American Dream – to live independently in a home of their own designed to meet their special needs.
