It seemed that this year there would be no Christmas party at Medina Creative Housing, which allows individuals with developmental and physical disabilities to live independently and provides jobs in a variety of business ventures.

A longtime party underwriter dropped out this year and Creative Housing Executive Director, Diane Pasquale-Hagerty, said that also meant the location for the party was unavailable.

Then along came the knights in shining armor known as the Hudson-Wise Foundation Band. “They play each year at the party and called to ask where and when for this year,” Hagerty said. When I told them there might not be a party, they immediately said they would handle it. What a wonderful group of people who care for others, especially at this special time of the year.”

Band member, Tim Richissin, said they immediately contacted Winking Lizard Tavern in Brunswick, which is the site of the Acoustic Jam (a huge group of musicians who get together to play for fun and for benefit causes). The jams are normally 5:30-8 p.m. each Wednesday. Winking Lizard provided their party room and handled food and beverages for the Dec. 10 party.
